Château Lestrille Capmartin, Bordeaux Supérieur 2012

A medium-bodied Bordeaux showing concentrated baked fruit aromas backed by delicate oaky notes complemented by a robust finish.

Producer Note:

Château Lestrille Capmartin wines are full bodied, with structure and personality. The Château is located at the northern point of the Entre-deux-Mers appellation in the small town of St. Germain du Puch between Libourne and Bordeaux. Following the philosophy that winemaking lies in the vineyard itself, sustainable winegrowing practices are used in order to respect the balance of the soil. Talented winemaker Estelle Roumage combines strict selection, with a tailor-made approach to vinification. Each parcel is vinified with minimal intervention to respect and optimise the characteristics of the vintage and terroir, with subtle oak ageing, creating charming wines with the utmost appeal. The estate is certified Haute Valeur Environmentale (HVE) Level 3.

Vintage:

Early budding was followed by a wet spring in 2012. The summer growth period saw sunny and dry August and September, encouraging the grapes to reach good maturity levels with good varietal characteristics. The berries were harvested in a healthy condition and produced wines which are rounded, fleshy and easy drinking.

Vineyard:

The vines are cultivated according to “la lutte raisonnée”, using sustainable agricultural methods and reducing the amount of chemicals in order to respect the land and its environment. The vines are grown in clay and silt soils.

Winemaking:

The grapes were picked at optimum maturity. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Bottling took place after 18 months.

Tasting Note:
